Remove or deregister a pool or spa

  • Council must be satisfied that it no longer exists on the property or is no longer capable of holding 300mm of water.
  • This is in accordance with the Building Regulations (147S).
  • Before sending your request to Council, we encourage you to read the fact sheet.

Download the fact sheet

  1. Take a photo showing the pool or spa before and after removal, or that it can no longer hold 300ml of water.
  2. Complete a Statutory Declaration form.
If the pool or spa was removed prior to purchase, please complete the Statutory Declaration for Decommission Pool/Spa prior to purchase form instead.
  3. Send a copy of the photos and the completed Statutory Declaration form to Council via
    Email: pools@cardinia.vic.gov.au
In person: at the Customer Service Centre, located at the Civic Centre, 20 Siding Avenue, Officer

Once Council has processed the request, you will receive confirmation in writing that the pool or spa has been deregistered.

Please note, there may be several parts to decommissioning a pool or spa and that may also require a building permit if substantial works need to be implemented. An inspection by one of our inspectors may also be required.
