Apply for a heavy vehicle storage permit

A heavy vehicle permit is required for any vehicle with a gross vehicle mass over 4.5 tonnes or length over 7.5m that is parked, kept, stored or repaired on a residential property under 4000 metres squared.

The heavy and/or long vehicle must be entirely stored on private property and not obstruct any part of Council land, including a footpath, nature strip and/or vehicle crossover.

Pro-Rata Fee: $100
The permit will be due for renewal on 30 June 2026.

 

A location sketch and/or photo must be provided showing where the vehicle will be stored on your property.

Note: these conditions may be altered by an Authorised Officer based on other requirements

1. The heavy vehicle associated with this permit must be kept within the property boundary listed above;

2. Only one heavy vehicle is allowed at the above premises at any time;

3. When entering and exiting the property with the vehicle, the permit holder must adhere to all Victorian

Road Safety Road Rules & Cardinia Shire  Community Local Law;

4. When parking the vehicle the permit holder must adhere to all Victorian Road Safety Road Rules &

Cardinia Shire Council Community Local Law;

5. Should the heavy vehicle leave the property before 7am on weekdays and/or before 9am on weekends or

public holidays it must not be left to idle or build up air;

6. Should the heavy vehicle return to the property after 8 pm on weekdays, weekends and/or public holidays

it must not be left to idle or build up air;

7. At times of poor weather conditions or poor visibility the vehicle must be illuminated whilst reversing from

the property;

8. Vehicle not to cause unreasonable disturbance to other persons, EPA Guidelines must be observed at all

times;

9. No maintenance that results in excess noise from the site may be undertaken on the vehicle;

10. Permit holder must be able to produce this permit on request;

11. Any damage done to public land or another person’s property must be repaired and paid for by the permit

holder;

12. Permit is not transferrable and can be revoked at any time;

13. Permit subject to change at any time dependent upon Council Policy for Heavy Vehicles.
