About this permit
You need to apply for a permit to temporarily place a shipping or storage container on private or public land.
About shipping containers on private land
Any shipping container on private land must be entirely stored on private property and not obstructing a footpath, nature strip and/or public land.
A maximum permit term of 12 months can be issued, long-term storage of a shipping container on private land will require a planning permit.
What you need to provide with your application
- A location sketch and photo showing where the container will be stored on the property.
- For placement on public land only: A Certificate of Currency of Public Liability (minimum coverage $20 million)

This is an application fee and is not refundable if the application is not approved.
