TIS National offers interpreters in over 160 languages and can help you whenever you need to talk to Council or understand our information. This service is free to everyone.

How to talk to Council using an interpreter

You can get a free interpreter when you call Council. You can choose either option:

Option 1 – Call TIS first

  • Call 131 450.
  • Ask for an interpreter in your language.
  • Tell them you want to speak with Cardinia Shire Council.
  • They will connect you to us.

Option 2 – Call Council first

  • Call Council on 1300 787 624
  • Ask for an interpreter in your language.
  • We will call TIS for you and connect all three of us.

This creates a three-way phone call between‑

  • You
  • Council staff
  • A TIS interpreter

TIS National provides the following options:

  • Immediate phone interpreting (most common and fastest)
  • Automated phone interpreting
  • Pre‑booked phone interpreting
