My Place – Council’s youth facility

If you are aged 12–25, My Place is a great place for information, advice, and support.

Young people, parents and professionals can access My Place for information and advice on a range of topics including health and wellbeing, education and training, drugs and alcohol and more.

Where required, referrals to other support agencies can be made directly from My Place to support young people and their families.

After school programs

Each term a variety of after school programs are offered from My Place. For more information about what is available this term, visit programs for young people.

School holiday activities

My Place offers a range of fun, free activities during the school holidays for young people aged 12-17. Bookings are essential and places are limited so call us on 1800 4 YOUTH or email Youth Services, to find out more.

Write On

Get your thoughts on paper and enter the annual writing comp. We offer an uncensored platform for young people to write poetry, stories, song lyrics or any written piece.

Please refer to terms and conditions below before you submit your entries. Prizes will be awarded during National Youth Week.

Terms and conditions
• Two age groups will be judged: 11–15 years and 16–24 years.
• Maximum word limit is 1600 words.
• Short stories, poetry, journalistic articles and song lyrics will be accepted.
• Competition starts Monday 2 February 2016.
• Competition closes at 5pm, Friday 1 April 2016.
• Late entries will not be accepted.
• Entries will be judged by a minimum of three independent judges.
• All entries must include the writer’s name and contact phone number.
• Permission will be requested if Cardinia Shire Council intends to publish your article.
• Selected writers may be encouraged to present some of their submission at the National Youth Week festival or equivalent.
• Winners will be announced at during National Youth Week on Friday 15 April 2016 and names will be published on this website and the Cardinia Youth Services Facebook page.

Photo Flash

Our photo competition is running again this year, so get your cameras out and start snapping. The theme this year is 'Sci Fi' Science Fiction. Please check terms and conditions below before submitting entries. Prizes will be awarded during National Youth Week.

Terms and conditions

• All photos must be 8 x 12” (20x30cm).
• Photos are to be printed.
• Entries are to be a in an envelope addressed ‘Attention: National Youth Week Photo Competition’ and submitted to My Place (5–7 Main Street, Pakenham).
• Competition starts Monday 1 February 2016.
• Competition closes at 5pm, Friday 1 April 2016.
• Late entries will not be accepted.
• Entries will be judged by a minimum of three independent judges.
• All entries must include the photographer’s name and contact phone number on the back of each photo.
• Permission will be requested if Cardinia Shire Council intends to publish your photo.
• Selected photos may be displayed during National Youth Week or equivalent event.
• Winners will be announced at during National Youth Week on Friday 15 April 2016 and names will be published on this website and the Cardinia Youth Services Facebook page.
