Cardinia Shire's outdoor pools at Koo Wee Rup and Garfield will reopen on Monday 1 December 2025. The summer season will continue until Tuesday 31 March 2026. The wading pool at the Emerald Lake Park Precinct will also reopen on 1 December 2025, and will remain open until Sunday, 15 March 2026.
Upgrade works at Pakenham Outdoor Pool have been delayed due to recent weather conditions and construction challenges.
The works were originally scheduled for completion by the start of the summer season on 1 December 2025.
However, persistent wet weather has caused delays, as the materials used for sealing the pool require dry conditions and optimal temperatures to ensure proper application, adhesion and curing.
Based on current progress and ongoing challenges, it is now unlikely that the pool will reopen this season.
To ensure everyone can enjoy the water on warmer days, the pools will now open when the temperature reaches 25 degrees Celsius, as forecasted by the Bureau of Meteorology at 4pm the day before.
In response to community feedback, we've made a significant change to our weekend hours during school terms. Pools in Garfield and Koo Wee Rup will now be open from 11am to 7pm, providing more opportunities for families and friends to enjoy swimming together. The Emerald Lake Park wading pool will continue operating from 12pm to 6:30pm.

Indoor pool - Pakenham
Our premier health and recreation facility, Cardinia Life, has a 25-metre pool, a 12-metre program pool and a toddler play pool (all with access ramps).

There is also a wading pool in the Emerald Lake Park Precinct
The outdoor pool opening season for 2025-26 is from December to March.
