Cardinia Shire's outdoor pools will reopen on Monday, 1 December 2025.
With the summer heat anticipated to last from December through March, our pools in Garfield, Koo Wee Rup, and Pakenham will be welcoming visitors daily until Tuesday, 31 March 2026. The wading pool at the Emerald Lake Park Precinct will also reopen on 1 December 2025, and will remain open until Sunday, 15 March 2026.
To ensure everyone can enjoy the water on warmer days, the pools will now open when the temperature reaches 25 degrees Celsius, as forecasted by the Bureau of Meteorology at 4pm the day before.
In response to community feedback, we've made a significant change to our weekend hours during school terms. Pools in Garfield, Koo Wee Rup, and Pakenham will now be open from 11am to 7pm, providing more opportunities for families and friends to enjoy swimming together. The Emerald Lake Park wading pool will continue operating from 12pm to 6:30pm.

Our premier health and recreation facility, Cardinia Life, has a 25-metre pool, a 12-metre program pool and a toddler play pool (all with access ramps).

Important info about when the pools are open
The pools are open on days where the temperature reaches 25 degrees in the pool’s location, as forecast by the Bureau of Meteorology at 4pm the day prior.
