Dust suppression works on unsealed roads
About this program
- The dust suppressant program is taking applications from 1 October 2025 and close at 5pm on Monday 3 November 2025.
- You can apply and pay to have dust suppressant works done on the unsealed road outside your property.
- Dust suppressant offers a short-term treatment for unsealed roads. Its effectiveness depends on weather, site conditions and the type and amount of traffic that drives on the road.
- Dust suppressant is not suitable for all unsealed roads. As the road authority, the Council may decline the application for dust suppressant in areas where it poses increased safety risks to motorists. Such areas include roads with a specific road pavement composition, dense tree cover and low light exposure. These conditions can have a detrimental effect on the road surface.
- This program is a resident funded program.
- Cost is $414 per 100m
Considerations for dust suppressant works
- Must be an unsealed road within Cardinia Shire
- Minimum length
We will only carry out dust suppressant on a minimum of 100 metres in multiples of 100 metres and nominated road width.
- Not all conditions are suitable for dust suppressant
Some surfaces are not compatible with dust suppressants including roads with a specific road pavement composition, dense tree cover and low light exposure. These conditions can have a detrimental effect on the road surface.
As the road authority, Council may decline the application for dust suppressant in areas where not appropriate or if it poses increased safety risks to motorists.
- As the Road Authority, if maintenance on the road or drain is essential, the works will progress regardless of whether dust suppressant is applied.
