Webinar: Discover the Unique Birds of Cardinia Shire

Join nature educator and bird enthusiast Kirsty Costa from Weekend Birder for a family-friendly 30-minute webinar, where you will learn about the diverse bird species living in Cardinia and their unique behaviours. Participants will gain valuable insights on how to identify birds by sight and sound, utilise free bird identification apps, and take part in BirdLife Australia's Aussie Bird Count—Australia's largest citizen science program.

Helmeted Honeyeater Community Celebration

Location: Holm Park Recreation Reserve, 100 Beaconsfield-Emerald Rd, Beaconsfield
This free community event focuses on the critically endangered helmeted honeyeater and the importance of habitat restoration. Residents will have the opportunity to learn from a presentation by Zoos Victoria, explore our Gardens for Wildlife display, and receive practical tips on creating bird-friendly gardens in their own backyards. Bird Walk: Exploring Emerald Lake Park

Following the 2 October webinar, join us for a gentle 1.5-hour bird walk hosted by Kirsty Costa. Together, we'll explore the stunning landscapes of Lake Treganowan and the surrounding bushland, home to remarkable species like the Superb Lyrebird and Satin Bowerbird. This event is suitable for all ages and birdwatching abilities. We'll practice bird identification and using the Aussie Bird Count app, while providing accessible pathways for prams and wheelchairs.
