Youth Committees
About
Young people aged 15 to 24 are encouraged to get involved and join one of our youth committees. Council currently offers two committees specifically for youth:
- The Amplify Committee: This is a Victorian Government initiative that allows young people to organize fun, supervised events that are free from drugs, alcohol, smoking, and vaping.
- The Youth Action and Advisory Committee (YAAC): This committee provides a space for young people to connect, share ideas, and advocate for their interests.
Both committees offer a fantastic opportunity for you to make your voice heard in Cardinia Shire!
2026 Youth Action and Advisory Committee
Applications are now open for the 2026 Youth Action and Advisory Committee (YAAC).
The YAAC is a collective of young people aged 15-24 who have a connection to the Cardina Shire.
YAAC members will:
Meet fortnightly.
- Shape and deliver youth-led projects.
- Be consulted about decisions that affect them.
- Build leadership and advocacy skills.
- Be rewarded and recognised.
- Increase their knowledge of local government.
- Be part of something meaningful and fun!
To register your interest in joining the 2026 YAAC please complete the Expression of Interest Form.
The YAAC is jointly funded by Cardinia Shire Council and the Victorian Government.
Amplify Youth Committee
Amplify (previously known as FReeZA) is a Victorian Government initiative that supports young people to get involved in their community by planning and hosting fully supervised drug, alcohol, smoke and vape free events for young people in the Cardinia Shire.
Cardinia Youth Services are seeking young people aged 15-24yrs to join our newly formed Amplify committee.
As an Amplify committee member you will:
- Gain hands on music industry experience
- Learn about planning, promoting, hosting and managing youth events within the Shire
- Support local musicians, artists and performers
- Gain skills in event management, artist liaison, stage management and technical production
- Learn about career pathways in the music industry
When: Wednesday fortnightly from 4 - 6pm (During school terms)
