The Next Gen Exhibition is proudly presented by Emerald Arts Society and Cardinia Shire Council.

This exhibition features visual art of a variety of mediums created by local young people under the age of 20.

All artworks showcased in this exhibition were also part of Emerald Arts Society’s Annual Art Exhibition over the Melbourne Cup weekend in 2023.

Extending the Next Gen category beyond the annual art exhibition has given a well-deserved platform for our young, talented artists to display their art in a professional gallery.

Dreamers, Makers, Shapers was undertaken to place greater awareness on Cardinia Shire’s wonderful local creatives; the value of artists to our communities, and to celebrate inclusion, diversity and creativity across Cardinia Shire.

During 2021, photography sessions involving Cardinia’s wonderful visual artists, musicians, performers, writers and artisans occurred in their home studios or at favourite outdoor locations. A lasting portfolio of each individual artist resulted. These images were also shared directly with the artists to use to extend their reach into the wider community.

Date: Monday 29 May to Wednesday 19 July
Time: 10am to 1pm, Monday to Friday

"The theme for this exhibition is all about Connecting to Country. For all First Nations people, our connection to our lands, waterways, and culture, is what makes us who we are as peoples.

Sharing this knowledge will hopefully encourage everyone to find their connection, to then allow all of us to walk together as one."
