Have your say: Koo Wee Rup Skate Park concept designs

Published: 30 March 2022

You’re invited to have your say on the proposed concept design for upgrades to the Cochrane Park skate park in Koo Wee Rup.

The proposed concept design has been prepared based on the feedback received during the first round of community consultation which ran for three weeks in November and December 2021.

The skate park will be designed and constructed by premier skate park builders Grind Projects, in partnership with Baseplate, the designer for the popular Gembrook skate park in 2018.

The proposed concept design offers a range of functions for all user types of differing skill levels whilst ensuring it is not overcrowded with too many elements. Based on community feedback, it is a ‘combination’ style facility that caters for all user types.

Key features include:

  • A mini ramp area that ensures that its use is not just back and forth, allowing users to flow around its space with a semi-bowl like feel
  • A long street run that features various elements e.g. rails, ledges, split level, manual pad etc. with differing heights and complexity of these elements to encourage use by beginners
  • The new design offers better function, more diversity, flow, and will be finished with smooth concrete.

Council and Baseplate are consulting with local schools and the broader community on this project.

Consultation closes the 18 April 2022. To facilitate this exciting redevelopment, the skate park will be closed from the 11 April to commence site preparation. This will enable works to start on the park as soon as possible following this round of consultation
