Have your say on draft car parking plan for Beaconsfield

Published: 5 July 2016

Council is seeking feedback on its draft Beaconsfield Car Parking Precinct Plan. The plan will help guide the planning and management of car parking in Beaconsfield.

The draft plan, which has 42 recommendations, will help support the development of the town centre. Under the top five recommendations, Council proposes to:

  • establish agreements with private car park owners, to help prevent illegal or unauthorised parking and improve the design of car parking facilities
  • audit car parking signage
  • work with private car park owners to apply consistent car parking signage and time periods
  • enforce car parking controls
  • work with locals schools to minimise the impacts of car parking and traffic and lobby government authorities to expand railway car parking.

Mayor Cr Jodie Owen said the plan considered 2873 car parking spaces, both on private property and Council managed roadside parking.

“I encourage anyone who regularly parks in Beaconsfield to review the plan and provide their feedback. We need to hear from the people who are ‘on the ground’ regularly in Beaconsfield,” she said.

“We know that we don’t need more car parks in the town centre but it can be better managed to ensure there is access to spaces, people with disability get priority and people can consider other means of transport.”

Residents are invited to a drop-in information session from 3.30–8pm on Tuesday 12 July 2016 at the Beaconsfield Neighbourhood Centre.

The plan and submission forms can be viewed on Council’s website or a hard copy at Council’s Civic Centre, 20 Siding Avenue Officer or Beaconsfield Community Centre, 8 O’Neil Road, Beaconsfield

Submissions close on Friday 29 July. Submission forms can be emailed or posted to:
