Take the Plastic Free July challenge with Council’s free workshops!

Published: 17 June 2021

Celebrate Plastic Free July with Council’s All Things Reusable workshops.

The free workshops are all about reusable alternatives to everyday household items and are perfect for those starting out on their zero‐waste journey or looking to reduce their waste at home.

Cardinia Shire Mayor Councillor Brett Owen encouraged residents to sign up for the workshops and take on the Plastic Free July Challenge.

“Plastic Free July is a global movement encouraging us all to be part of the solution to plastic pollution – so we can all enjoy cleaner streets, oceans, and communities,” Cr Owen said.

“When used correctly, reusable items are a much better alternative to compostable, biodegradable and recyclable items. Our workshops will explore why this is, as well as identify alternatives to common disposable household items including paper towels, wipes, nappies, shopping and produce bags.

"I encourage anyone who is interested in trying to reduce their environmental impact to sign up for these workshops to discover how they can be more eco-friendly throughout Plastic Free July and beyond."
