Lake Side Sounds is back and online!

Published: 1 March 2021

Lake Side Sounds is heading online this March with a line-up of incredible local performers set to take the virtual stage.

In previous years, the annual music series has been held at Emerald Lake Park, however due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s three events will be pre-recorded at the Cardinia Cultural Centre theatre before appearing on Cardinia Shire Council’s Facebook page at 3pm on Sunday 14 March, Sunday 21 March and Sunday 28 March.

Cardinia Shire Council Mayor Councillor Brett Owen encouraged residents to mark the events in their dairies and enjoy the sensational local talent in a COVID-safe way with friends and family.

“While the COVID-19 pandemic may have affected our ability to attend community events, it hasn’t reduced our passion for celebrating live music and local creativity,” Cr Owen said.

“Council is proud to partner with 3MDR 97.1 FM to bring Lake Side Sounds once again to our residents. This year, viewers can expect to see wonderful performances from the Cardinia Civic Concert Band, as well as from local artists Clint Wilson and The Velvet Valley, Caity Henryk, Hannah Schmidli and James Franklin.”

The Cardinia Civic Concert Band are due to kick things off on Sunday 14 March. They are the shire’s premier band with members aged 10 - 80, performing a wide variety of music enjoyable for all ages.

On Sunday 21 March, Clint Wilson and The Velvet Valley will be taking to the stage to immerse the audience into a world of storytelling through music. Clint Wilson is renowned for his ability to connect with his fans through his song-writing.

Caity Henryk, an enchanting local musician, will also be performing at the second event with her gentle acoustic pop sound paired with a strong yet husky voice. Caity brings her musical stories to life through her connection to the songs that she writes and performs with intention.

The third event, taking place on Sunday 28 March, will see performances from Hannah Schmidli and James Franklin. Hannah is a talented young singer/song-writer who is quickly carving her own niche in the Australian indie/acoustic scene, experimenting recently with a jazz/blues inspired style of music.

James is a soul/pop artist possessing a unique sound that is sure to captivate listeners. With a collection of new songs under his belt, James endeavours to take the audience on a musical journey before he heads back into the studio soon to record some more exciting material.
