Cardinia Shire Cardinia welcomes the announcement of Melbourne City Football Club relocating to Casey Fields.

Yesterday, the club shared news that it signed a Heads of Agreement with the City of Casey and the City of Greater Dandenong to base the new Etihad City Football Academy at Casey Fields Football Centre of Excellence.

Cardinia Shire Council Mayor Councillor Brett Owen said the relocation was great news for the broader region.

“Cardinia Shire Council together with the City of Casey and City of Greater Dandenong have been working for the past four years on a proposal to bring an A League and W League football club to the region.

“We welcome the move as it will aid the growth of sport in the fast-growing south east region,” Cr Owen said.

Cr Owen also welcomed news that the club’s charitable foundation, City in the Community, is moving its head office to Casey Fields.

“We are so pleased to hear that City in the Community is also coming to Casey Fields to work more closely with vulnerable groups across the south east region.”
