Future management of Council's major recreation facilities

Published: 22 March 2016

Cardinia Shire Council has recently undertaken a tender process for the management of its major recreation facilities.

These facilities include Cardinia Life, Pakenham Regional Tennis Centre, four seasonal aquatic facilities and soon to open, Officer Community Hub and IYU Recreation Reserve synthetic (soccer) pitch. This tender process is a mandatory requirement for Council to undertake, as per the Local Government Act.

After an extensive process, Council decided at its meeting on Monday 21 March to award the contract for management and operation of these facilities to Aligned Leisure. As a result, the YMCA will conclude management of these facilities on Thursday 30 June, at the end of their current contract term.

Council has had a long partnership with the YMCA, including throughout the re-development and extension of Cardinia Life and construction of new local facilities. Council would like to thank the YMCA for their many years of service to the community and wish the organisation all the best for the future.

Aligned Leisure will start managing these facilities from Friday 1 July.
