Lauriston Estate Park upgrade breaks ground in Koo Wee Rup

Published: 26 February 2026

Construction is now underway on the Lauriston Estate Park in Koo Wee Rup.

As part of Cardinia Shire’s annual Playground Renewals program, Council is upgrading the existing playground at Lauriston Estate Park. This marks an exciting next step in transforming the park into a more engaging, accessible, and inclusive space for local families.

Upgrades will include:

  • Multiple climbing nets and rope elements
  • Overhead monkey bars and slides
  • Balance, agility, and step equipment
  • Combination swing featuring a round type swing.
  • New rubber safety surfacing
  • Improved path connections
  • New seating, picnic area and shelter.
  • Natural landscaping
  • Drainage improvement works.

Community consultation was completed in 2025 and 2026 to ensure the park better meets the needs of children, families, and the broader Koo Wee Rup community.

Community feedback helped shape the final plans, with residents voicing support for nature‑inspired play, inclusive equipment, improved accessibility paths, and a new shelter to support social connection.

Council has engaged a contractor to complete these works, with construction expected to be completed by the end of May 2026, weather permitting.

To allow the works to progress safely, the park will be closed to the community during construction, including the path access from County Close and Dwyer Court.

Council will be working to minimise disruptions, so please understand that increased noise, dust and lighting may be temporarily experienced in the area.

Council appreciates the community’s patience as we work to deliver a revitalised neighbourhood playground that supports active play, imagination, and social connection for years to come.
