Revamp in progress: Greenland Court Reserve playground under construction

Published: 19 February 2026

Construction is now underway to renew the Greenland Court Reserve playground in Garfield.

As part of Cardinia Shire’s 2025-26 Playground Renewals program, the Greenland Court Reserve playground is being upgraded to create a safer, more welcoming and more accessible play space, where all children can connect, explore and enjoy.

The project will refresh ageing infrastructure to ensure this valued community space continues to be well‑maintained and support the Garfield community for years to come.

Upgrades and changes will include:

  • A new nature play area with balance and stepping features
  • Double swing set with basket seat and rubber surfacing
  • Combination play unit with slides, raised platforms, climbing features and interactive panels
  • Flying fox
  • Double seesaw
  • Monkey bars
  • Renewal of the existing BMX track
  • Shelter with picnic table and benches
  • Drainage improvements
  • New concrete and granitic sand path connections
  • Landscaping and installation of new seating, bins, bike racks and other furniture

These upgrades are jointly funded by Council and the Victorian Government’s Tiny Towns Fund.

Final plans have been shaped by community feedback, with consultation being completed throughout 2024 and 2025. This input helped design a play space that feels welcoming, inclusive and reflective of how local families use the reserve.

Council has appointed a contractor to complete these upgrades, with construction expected to be completed in March 2026, weather permitting.

For community safety, the playground will remain closed throughout construction and temporary fencing has been installed around the reserve. Council is working closely with the contractor to minimise disruptions, and we thank residents for their patience as we work to build better open spaces for all.
