Building better local roads in Mount Burnett
Sealing works are now underway on Mount Burnett Road in Mt Burnett.
In partnership with the Australian Government, Cardinia Shire Council is upgrading Mt Burnett Road to improve road safety, reduce dust, enhance drainage, lower maintenance costs and strengthen, access and connectivity throughout the Hills region.
Sealing this unsealed residential road is a priority for Council, due to its importance in connecting local communities and supporting safe travel, particularly during emergency events such as bushfires and severe weather.
Upcoming works will include:
- spray sealing and road pavement construction
- drainage improvement works
- Installation of signage and line marking
- minimal tree removal
A contractor has been appointed to deliver these works, and construction is expected to be completed by June 2026, weather and site conditions permitting.
To maintain community safety and ensure these works can be completed efficiently, Mount Burnett Road will be temporarily closed during construction. Detours and signage will be in place, and access will be maintained for local traffic and to all properties.
While Council will work to minimise disruptions, residents may experience temporary impacts such as increased noise, traffic, dust and lighting during construction.
We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as we work to deliver better local roads across the shire.
