Celebrating Christmas Together
Council is delighted to announce the resounding success of the 2025 Christmas Together program, an initiative that has brought joy, support, and a true sense of community to our shire.
Now in its third year, the Christmas Together initiative, developed in partnership with The Salvation Army, Follow Bless Collective, SSI, and ADRA, has proven to be a shining example of the strength of collaboration and generosity.
This year's program ran for two weeks, providing essential food and gifts to more than 500 local families as well as financial assistance to those in need.
The program once again reached its capacity this year, underscoring the significant demand for support this holiday season.
Cardinia Shire Deputy Mayor Cr Liz Roberts expressed her pride in the initiative.
"Christmas Together really highlighted the amazing generosity of our community and how much we can accomplish when we team up to help each other out,” she said.
“We're proud to have been involved in this project, making sure families and individuals get the support they need during this tough time of year."
Participants were able to access support from December 11 to December 22, turning the Pakenham Senior Citizens Centre into a joyful place filled with smiles, gratitude, and an overwhelming sense of camaraderie that exemplifies the true meaning of Christmas.
The success of Christmas Together would not have been possible without the incredible support from local residents, schools, community groups, and businesses. Their donations of toys, non-perishable food items, and time contributed significantly to the festive atmosphere, creating joyful Christmas experiences for numerous households across the shire.
"We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to making this event a success," Deputy Mayor Roberts said.
"It is through the generous compassion and kindness shown by our community that we can help those in need and spread joy during the holiday season."
