Shining a light on Cardinia’s new wave of community leaders!

Published: 31 October 2025

Cardinia Shire Council proudly celebrates the graduates of the 2025 Cardinia Community Leadership Program following their successful completion of the six-month course.

Earlier this year, 16 motivated and aspiring leaders put their hand up to join the Cardinia Community Leadership Program (CCLP) eager to develop new skill and strengthen their existing leadership capabilities.

Lead by program facilitator, Tony Matthews, participants engaged in workshops, case study discussions and collaborative group work designed to challenge and inspire them to contribute meaningfully to their local community.

Participants represented a diverse range of community groups and organisations from across Cardinia and each shared a similar aspiration for the program, to deepen their understanding of the community they live and work in and to contribute to a more inclusive and welcoming shire.

Cardinia Shire Mayor Councillor Jack Kowarzik congratulated the graduates on their commitment to personal and professional growth.

“Your participation in this program is a testament to your dedication to making a difference” he said.

“I encourage our graduates to stay engaged with Council, take part in future alumni events, connect with your fellow community members and continue striving for excellence in all that you do.”

“I’m proud that our Council has supported the Cardinia Leadership Program for the eighth year, connecting and uplifting local leaders in our community”.

Applications for the 2026 program will reopen early in the new year. To learn more about the Cardinia Community Leadership program, please visit https://www.cardinia.vic.gov.au/CLP
