Join the 2026 Youth Action and Advisory Committee

Council is seeking enthusiastic young people aged 15-24 with a connection to the Cardinia Shire community to get involved and contribute to local decision-making. 

The YAAC is a dynamic advisory committee where members will have the chance to make their voices heard and help ensure that the ideas and preferences of young people guide council objectives.  

YAAC members will be asked to participate in the committee for a minimum period of 12 months with the opportunity to continue in the group following the initial 12-month commitment. Members will have the opportunity to: 

• Meet fortnightly to exchange ideas and perspectives 
• Shape and deliver a youth-led community project 
• Represent the voices of young people on issues that matter to them 
• Build valuable leadership and advocacy skills 
• Be recognised and compensated for participating in quarterly consultation meetings 
• Increase their knowledge of local government processes 

In addition, members will have the chance to celebrate their achievements with an end-of-year dinner with the Mayor, recognising their meaningful contributions to the shire.

"This is not just an opportunity to make a difference, it's also a chance to develop skills, meet new friends, and have a great time."
