Kicking off with a webinar
Join renowned nature educator and bird enthusiast, Kirsty Costa from Weekend Birder, for an enlightening webinar titled "Discover the Unique Birds of Cardinia Shire." Mark your calendars for Thursday, 2 October at 7:30pm as we take you on a 30-minute virtual journey.
Learn about the diverse bird species living right in our backyard, their fascinating behaviours, and get insider tips on bird identification using free apps. Plus, discover how you can contribute to BirdLife Australia's Aussie Bird Count—Australia's largest citizen science program! Spots are limited, so don't miss out on securing your place.
Nature awaits in the bird walk
After soaking up knowledge from the webinar, why not venture outdoors? Join us for a delightful 1.5-hour bird walk at the beautiful Emerald Lake Park on Saturday, 18 October, from 9:30am to 11am. Stroll through the picturesque landscapes of Lake Treganowan and surrounding bushland, where you might catch a glimpse of spectacular birds like the Superb Lyrebird and Satin Bowerbird.
This event is perfect for birdwatchers of all skill levels and is accessible for prams and wheelchairs. Registration is essential, as spaces are limited.
Celebrating the Helmeted Honeyeater
Don't miss the Helmeted Honeyeater Community Celebration on Thursday, 9 October, from 7pm to 8:30pm at the Holm Park Recreation Reserve. This free event shines a light on the critically endangered helmeted honeyeater and the vital role of habitat restoration.
