Pakenham Golf Course update – 12 June 2025

Published: 12 June 2025

Thank you to the organisers of the community meeting last night for having us along to hear their discussions about the Pakenham Golf Course.

Mayor Jack Kowarzik, Crs Pomeroy, Roberts and Paton, along with council officers, attended the meeting to hear the community members’ thoughts, answer questions and clarify information.

During the meeting the Mayor confirmed that no decision had been made regarding long-term options for the facility, and reassured the group that community members would have an opportunity to provide feedback prior to any decisions being made on the future of the site.

In the meantime, an independent external contractor is continuing to work on a feasibility study for the site. Once completed, a detailed report summarising the review findings will be presented to Council for consideration, and will help inform community engagement activities to follow.

At the last night’s meeting, the Mayor reinforced Council’s commitment to keep the community informed with any updates regarding the golf course site as more information comes to hand.

The Pakenham Golf Course, café, bistro and function rooms remain closed until further notice. In the meantime, community members can continue to visit the Deep Creek Eco Playspace, wetlands and kickabout area and use the public toilets. Cardinia Environment Coalition continues to operate from the site.
