Emerald’s Hills Hub project progresses to detailed designs

Published: 23 February 2017

Cardinia Shire Council has announced the Hills Hub project in Emerald will now progress to detailed designs.

The recent endorsement of Design Scenario 4 sees the development of the detailed design component now underway, with the aim of producing final plans for tender in 2017.

Cardinia Shire Council’s Team Leader Community Development Tim Cooper was pleased the project was progressing and thanked all stakeholders and contributors for their ongoing collaboration and perseverance.

“I would like to acknowledge the dedication and commitment of the Emerald Mechanics Institute over many years in managing and enabling the wider community to access and enjoy the existing hall,” Mr Cooper said.

“Thanks also to members of the Advisory Group who have worked diligently to ensure the project can move forward, and to the Emerald community for its understanding and patience.”

Cardinia Shire Council is working in partnership with the Emerald Mechanics Institute and the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) to deliver this project.

The Hills Hub will integrate a range of community groups and programs including a multi-purpose community space, 3MDR community radio station, Emerald U3A, Emerald Men’s Shed and the Eastern Dandenong Ranges Project group that will enable and support various volunteer and community initiatives.

Community consultation will again be undertaken later in 2017 to seek feedback and input into the external design for the new Hills Hub.
