Nominate now for the Stan Henwood Award
Nominations are now open for the annual Stan Henwood Award recognising individuals who have made significant contributions to the Cardinia Shire community over a period of more than 10 years.
Cardinia Shire Mayor Cr Brett Owen said the award honours the late Stan Henwood and his lifetime contribution to Tynong and the municipality.
“Stan was a beloved Tynong resident, whose many contributions over the years strengthened the local community and beyond. Stan was also the recipient of a medal from the Australian Prime Minister for Service to Sport and an Order of Australia for Service to the Community,” Cr Brett Owen said.
“It is this greater level of commitment to volunteering across a diverse range of organisations, and throughout most of his life, that made Stan a standout member of our community.”
The award pays tribute to Stan Henwood’s community service by acknowledging similarly motivated individuals from across the shire for their commitment to improving local sporting and community facilities for the enjoyment of the whole community.
Nominations for the 2017 award close at 5pm on Sunday 12 March 2017.
Eligible nominees must:
- Be a resident of the Cardinia Shire. However, individuals who are not currently residing within Cardinia Shire but have made substantial community contributions to the Cardinia Shire over a period of more than 10 years may be considered.
- Have demonstrated significant commitment to community services over a period of at least 10 years.
- Not have received this award in the past.
- Not be a former Cardinia Shire Councillor from within the last four years.
