Apply now for Greening Cardinia plant vouchers and weed control grants
The Greening Cardinia program provides free native plants and financial support to residents, landowners and community groups to control weeds within Cardinia Shire.
Cardinia Shire Council is partnering with the Cardinia Environment Coalition Nursery at Deep Creek Reserve in Pakenham to giveaway vouchers for a selection of local native trees, shrubs and grasses as tube stock, until 11:59pm Friday 14 June 2024.
$50 indigenous plant vouchers are available for small properties, and $125 indigenous plant vouchers are available for larger properties over 4,000m2, schools, kindergartens and community groups.
Grants of up to $1,500 are also available for landowners and community groups to control noxious and environmental weeds in areas of high environmental value. Applications for weed control grants close on 31 May 2024.
Cardinia Shire Mayor Councillor Jack Kowarzik encouraged local residents and groups to help green up the Shire.
“The grants and vouchers will help improve our local environment, with fewer weeds and more local native plants", the Mayor said.
“I encourage residents and groups right across the Shire to apply and get involved.”
