2017 Australia Post AFL Community Camp
The AFL is pleased to announce the confirmed dates and locations for Richmond Football Club’s 2017 Australia Post AFL Community Camps.
AFL General Manager Game and Market Development, Simon Lethlean, said the Australia Post AFL Community Camps are an important vehicle in recognising that grassroots football and the community are the lifeblood of Australia’s Game.
“The Australia Post AFL Community Camps allow us to highlight the connection Australian Football has with communities right around the country,” Mr Lethlean said.
Richmond CEO Brendon Gale said the Club had already formed a strong connection with Cardinia Shire and he looked forward to seeing it continue to flourish.
“Richmond’s connection to the region stems back to 2012, when we joined forces with Cardinia Shire Council to bring the community together using football, through various programs, events and community engagement initiatives,” Gale said.
“We’re excited to again be visiting the region and it will provide a fantastic opportunity for our football club to further engage and connect with fans and supporters.”
Cardinia Shire Mayor Cr Brett Owen said the community camps are a fantastic way for students, workplaces, and community services in the shire to start the new-year off with some fun and fitness.
“It is so pleasing to see the camps being run here in Cardinia Shire. The players will visit a large number of our schools as well as some workplaces and spending time with those in care at the Koo Wee Rup Regional Health Service. These camps give our community a chance to get up close with some of their favourite players,” Cr Owen said.
