Take a moment to have your say on Cardinia Shire’s Liveability Health Plan
Council is seeking input from all members of our community to develop the Cardinia Shire Liveability Health Plan.
Cardinia Shire Mayor Cr Brett Owen urged the community to participate in the first round of consultation to develop a draft of this important document, which will help guide the future health and wellbeing of our shire.
“It’s time to develop our community’s liveability health plan and we want to hear from you. Council has a responsibility to protect, improve and promote public health and wellbeing within Cardinia Shire, but we can’t do it alone,” Cr Owen said.
“We’re seeking community input to help us identify the plan’s priorities over the next four years. We want to know what people think is working well to promote health and wellbeing in Cardinia Shire at the moment and what we could be doing differently.”
The initial consultation closes at 5pm on Tuesday 28 February 2017. The community will have further opportunities for input later this year, once Council and its partners have developed the draft plan.
The plan will focus on liveability, where communities are safe, attractive, socially cohesive and inclusive, and environmentally sustainable. Such communities provide diverse housing supported by infrastructure, including efficient public transport, walking and cycling routes, education, public open space, local shops, health and community services, and leisure and cultural facilities.
The plan will address liveability in the following areas: housing, active travel, food, open space, health and social services, education and employment.
