Cardinia Shire Heritage Grant applications open

Published: 20 March 2023

The Cardinia Shire Heritage Grant applications are open to residents from 3 April to 27 May 2023.

The grant provides much-needed funds to help restore and conserve places of heritage value that are covered by a heritage overlay in the Cardinia Shire Planning Scheme.

The funds are available for private sites, and places open and accessible to the public, including commercial premises and other significant sites.

Gardens, trees and hedges identified as having heritage significance, and covered by a heritage overlay, are also eligible to apply.

To check if your place or site is covered by a heritage overlay, follow the easy steps below.

  1. Go to the Community Compass tool
  2. Select the magnifying glass and start typing the site’s street address into the search bar at the top of the page, until you see the full property address appear. Select the address.
  3. Select 'planning zones and overlays' from the menu and check to see if the site is in a heritage overlay.
  4. If your property is eligible for funding, select the link to SmartyGrants and apply for a Heritage Grant.

Funding is available up to $5,000 for public property and up to $2,000 for private property.
