How to indentify
Rigid, flat, mostly basal, sword-like leaves. Straight, erect red-brown flowering stalks to 2m high, usually unbranched. Open spikes of 10-15 brick red to dull pink curved trumpet-shaped flowers, brown bulbils along stem.

Hand weed corms. Wipe leaves with poison using a dabber bottle. Slash below stem emergence point.
