Scrambling prickly shrub or trailer, new growth downy.

Leaves
Bright green wrinkled divided leaves, downy white below. 3-5 egg-shaped leaflets 1-4cm x 1-3.5cm, margins lobed to deeply toothed. Stalks prickly.
Flowers
Short terminal bunches or single axillary flowers to 15mm wide. Edible red berries December to April.

Growing conditions
Moist to dryish well drained soils in forests, riparian scrubs and woodland. Frost tolerant. Semi-shade to dappled shade.
Commonly used for
A hardy scrambler which can be pruned. Grow under established trees. Excellent habitat plant.
