Description
Trailing, scrambling or erect shrubs with hairless to densely velvety stems.
Size (W x H)
1-1.5m x 0.3-1.5m
Leaves
Usually stalkless paired or scattered dark green broad to heart-shaped leathery leaves, 2.5-7cm x 1-2.5cm, network of veins, pointed tip may be prickly.
Flowers
1-4 large pea flowers in leaf axils on long hairy stalks. Calyx hairy. Broad flat hairy pods with thin wing.
Flower colour
Yellow with red centres
Flower time
September to December
Growing conditions
Moist well drained soils in moist forests and woodlands. Frost tolerant. Full sun, semi shade and dappled shade.
Commonly used for
Bright flowers for a shady moist garden or bush area. Can scramble amongst other shrubs. Prune to control shape or size.
