- Erect unbranched woolly-hairy perennial herb spreading from underground stems.

- 30cm x 20-30cm
- Leaves
- Basal rosette of broad leaves becoming narrower up the stem, 3-9cm x 3-8mm, sometimes nearly hairless above.
- Flowers
- Single button-like daisy flowerheads to 30mm across, held on long stalks, outer bracts below flowerhead papery, dark brown, inner bracts yellow.

- Growing conditions
- Moist well drained soil in open forests and woodlands. Frost tolerant.
- Commonly used for
- Matting plant for cottage gardens, borders, rockeries. Drift under established trees. Plants die back each year after flowering.
