Description
Erect unbranched woolly-hairy perennial herb spreading from underground stems.

Leaves
Basal rosette of broad leaves becoming narrower up the stem, 3-9cm x 3-8mm, sometimes nearly hairless above.
Flowers
Single button-like daisy flowerheads to 30mm across, held on long stalks, outer bracts below flowerhead papery, dark brown, inner bracts yellow.

Growing conditions
Moist well drained soil in open forests and woodlands. Frost tolerant.
Commonly used for
Matting plant for cottage gardens, borders, rockeries. Drift under established trees. Plants die back each year after flowering.
