Ward boundary review for Cardinia Shire: Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) consultation now open
The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) is conducting a review of Cardinia Shire’s ward boundaries. Residents are invited to share their thoughts with the VEC on the proposed ward boundaries.
Information sessions on the ward boundary review are being held online on Monday 26 and Tuesday 27 February 2024, both at 12 noon.
The VEC consultation is now open and will close at 5pm on Wednesday 20 March 2024.
At the request of the Minister for Local Government, the VEC reviews the internal boundaries (wards) of a council when the number of voters per councillor is forecast to be outside the legislated +/- 10% tolerance in one or more wards at the next local council election. This makes sure each voter is represented equally at the next election.
Residents now have a chance to tell the VEC their thoughts about the ward boundaries proposed in its draft report. They can make a submission by sharing their views in writing or drawing a map of their preferred ward boundaries.
