Community recovery events

Council has an ongoing program of recovery events for the community impacted by the Bunyip Complex bushfires of 2019 and the storms of 2021. Please see event details below. 

A FREE Mental Health First Aid Training course is currently on offer to community members. Lifeline Gippsland are delivering the training. 

The 2-day training course will help you recognise the signs and symptoms of common mental health problems and learn the skills to feel confident to be able to help.

Morning and tea and lunch will be provided on both days.

Dates: Saturday 2 July and Saturday 9 July
Time: 8.45am - 4pm

Join our FREE high energy drumming and wellbeing programfor young people aged 10-17 years! 

DRUMBEAT stands for Discovering Relationships Using Music, Beliefs, Emotions, Attitudes, and Thoughts. Hosted by qualifiedDRUMBEAT facilitators, you’ll have fun learning drumming skills while improving mental wellbeing and self-esteem, reducing stress levels, and building communication and teamwork skills.

Place: Gembrook Community Centre, 4 Gembrook Rd, Gembrook. 

What will be covered

The first session of both programs will cover:

  • What is a healthy relationship? 
  • What makes a healthy relationship? 
  • What are some traits of a healthy relationship or non-healthy relationship? 

The second session of both programs will cover:

  • What feelings do we feel if it is a healthy relationship? 
  • What feelings do we feel if it is not a healthy relationship? 
  • Feeling cards

Enjoy a FREE ‘Winter Wonderland’ movie night featuring the hit family film Ice Age

The event will also feature children’s activities as well as a BBQ, coffee/hot chocolate van and ice cream van.
