Have your say – Officer District Reserve Masterplan

Published: 22 August 2018

Cardinia Shire Council’s draft Officer District Reserve Masterplan is currently on exhibition for public comment.

The draft masterplan is available for review and feedback until 5pm, Monday 17 September 2018.

The community can find out more and have their say in person at a community drop-in session from 9am–1pm, Saturday 25 August 2018 at the Arena Shopping Centre.

Cardinia Shire Mayor Cr Collin Ross encouraged everyone in Officer and surrounds to take this opportunity to review the draft masterplan and provide their feedback.

“Thank you to all the people who have already provided their ideas and feedback in previous consultation stages. Your feedback was essential to informing the development of the draft masterplan. I encourage everyone to review the draft and let us know if you think we’re on the right track,” Cr Ross said.

The draft masterplan will guide the future planning and development of the Officer District Reserve to ensure a range of open space facilities meet the varied needs of the community. The draft masterplan proposes to include:

  • an extensive path network
  • an access road from Princess Hwy and car parking
  • a dog off-leash area
  • a picnic lawn area
  • open grassland areas
  • a play zone and fitness elements
  • a skate and BMX facility
  • wetland boardwalk and viewing platforms
  • an unsealed trail/wheeled sports area
  • a lookout point
  • landscaping and sculptural signage
  • a café and public toilets.

“This draft provides an overarching plan to achieve Council and the community’s vision for the future of the reserve – from active recreation needs, including having appropriate organised sports facilities to meet local and district level demands, to passive recreation needs, such as having access to boardwalks and walking/riding paths, playgrounds and nature reserves.”

“Through the application of environmental and urban design principles, the draft masterplan also aims to ensure areas of environmental significance are preserved and enhanced for future generations to enjoy,” Cr Ross said.
