Cardinia Shire launches grants program and invites feedback on the supporting policy

Festival and Events Grants 2026 Published: 20 May 2026

Cardinia Shire Council is inviting applications for its Arts Grants and Festival and Events Grants programs.

Opening on 20 May 2026, the two grant programs provide funding opportunities for local artists, community groups and event organisers to deliver projects and events that enrich the cultural and social life of the shire.

Both application rounds open on Wednesday 20 May 2026 at 9am and close on Wednesday 24 June 2026 at 12pm.

2026–2027 Festival and Events Grants Program

The Festival and Events Funding Program invests in community-led festivals and events that activate Cardinia Shire's townships, public spaces, and community precincts.

Funding is available for events held between 1 July 2026 and 30 June 2027 within Cardinia Shire across two streams:

  • Small Community Grant | $1,000–$5,000 - For recognised civic and cultural celebrations. Eligible applicants may access up to three years of support. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until 30 June 2027, or until funds are fully committed. 
  • Festivals and Events Grant | $5,001–$30,000 - For once-off or recurring community festivals and events. Applications are accepted during an annual round and assessed by an Independent Assessment Panel.

Draft Festival and Events Policy 2026 -2030

Council is also inviting community feedback on the Draft Festival and Events Policy 2026–2030.

The draft policy has been developed with community feedback gathered early 2026 and guides the responsible allocation of public funds to support the activation of townships and public spaces, celebrate local identity, strengthen social connection, cultural expression and economic activity across the shire.

Subject to consideration of community feedback and endorsement at a future Council meeting, all applications for the 2026–2027 Festival and Events Grants Program will be assessed against the new policy.

Arts Grants Program

Cardinia Arts Grants supports local artist to develop initiatives that utilise, expand, and promote the arts within Cardinia Shire. It encourages creatives to connect their artistic practice with local communities in new and meaningful ways.

Grants of up to $5,000 are available for initiatives delivered between 1 July 2026 and 30 June 2027.
