Mayor's statement

“The introduction of Stage 4 restrictions for metropolitan Melbourne, including Cardinia Shire, isn’t the news we wanted to hear.

“These tougher new restrictions won’t be easy on anyone. But it’s now more important than ever that we all work together and follow the latest advice from health authorities to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

“Whenever you leave home for one of the four essential reasons, please remember to wear a face mask or covering, practise physical distancing, and follow the new rules about shopping, exercising and curfews. As directed, please stay within five kilometres of home; of course, if your closest supermarket is more than five kilometres away, you can still shop there. For the latest information from the Victorian Government on COVID-19 restrictions and advice, visit the DHHS website at www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus

“We’re working hard to keep delivering our essential services to you, while adapting and modifying all services as required. Some changes to Council services and facilities will need to be made due to these new restrictions, but we will keep you updated of these on our website at www.cardinia.vic.gov.au/coronavirus, and on our Facebook page.

“Thank you to everyone who is doing the right thing and following the latest restrictions. If you have even the mildest of symptoms, please get tested and stay home while you wait for your results. There are now three testing sites in Cardinia Shire at Emerald, Koo Wee Rup and Pakenham, making testing accessible to people right across our shire.

“Please keep connecting with and supporting each other as we adjust to these latest restrictions – and let’s also keep supporting our local businesses whenever we can.  Together, we’ll get through this.”
