Jazz and the Silver Screen

Important Information

This performance will commence at 10am sharp with our Devonshire tea to follow at 11:30am.

Hook Turn Orchestra presents Jazz and the Silver Screen.

Showcasing jazz classics and selections from celebrated film scores, this concert presents music that started life on the silver screen. The stunning vocals of musical theatre star, Alinta Chidzey (West Side Story, Singin’ in the Rain, Jesus Christ Superstar) are accompanied by an ensemble comprised of Melbourne’s most accomplished musicians, including members of Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra Victoria.

Melding the worlds of jazz and the classical concert hall, this project seeks to reinvent much-loved classics and under-appreciated filmscore masterpieces alike. From the Salon at the Melbourne Recital Centre to their recent performance at Hamer Hall in the Arts Centre Melbourne's Morning Melodies series, Jazz and the Silver Screen features toe-tapping tunes from Puttin’ on the Ritz to Round Midnight

This is one performance not to be missed!

“Chidzey, with her clear, bright but powerful voice, is charming and engaging.” Herald Sun
"Chidzey grabs the focus the second she steps on stage.” Sydney Morning Herald
