Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about the Cardinia Cultural Centre Redevelopment
What is happening?
The Cardinia Cultural Centre is undergoing an exciting redevelopment. Parts of the existing facility will be updated, new sections will be added and the existing on-site carpark will be extended.
Stage 1 of the redevelopment will include a new art space, dance/rehearsal studios, workshop, laundry, entrance and foyer, more car parking and better amenities.
Who is funding the project?
Stage 1 of the project will cost $8.9 million. Cardinia Shire Council will contribute $5.9 million and Victorian Government's Growing Suburbs Fund will contribute $3 million.
When will construction start?
How long will construction take?
We expect it will take around 14 months.
Will the CCC still operate during the construction?
Will any facilities be unavailable?
Yes. In order to create our exciting new spaces, the Seminar Room, workshop and storage space will be closed. The existing sealed car park will remain open, but the grassed overflow parking area will not be accessible. The existing toilet facilities will also close during the redevelopment and will be replaced with high-quality, temporary toilet amenities.
Can I still book the Cardinia Cultural Centre spaces?
Yes. The Lakeview Room, Dance Room, Gallery and Theatre will stay open during the redevelopment and remain available for hire.
I’ve got an event booked at the Cardinia Cultural Centre during the redevelopment. Will the redevelopment affect this booking?
We will be working closely with the builders during the redevelopment to ensure that any impact to functions and events is minimised.
Is the café still open?
Yes, the café will be fully operational during the works.
Can I still view the Cardinia Embroidery?
No, the embroidery has been removed in preparation for the redevelopment.
There is another embroidery piece at the Pakenham Library
Where can I park?
The current sealed car park will remain operational, however the grassed overflow carpark will be unavailable. Overflow parking is available in surrounding streets and car parks. We recommend planning your visits to the CCC to include a little extra time to find a car park during the redevelopment. The exciting news is, at the end of construction, you will have more sealed on-site car parking available than ever before!
Will further redevelopment take place following the Stage 1 works?
Yes. The Cardinia Cultural Centre Masterplan also includes stages 2 and 3, however no timelines or budgets are currently set for these works.
