Seniors Festival 2019

  • The Victorian Seniors Festival is on across Victoria every October. It offers a great range of free and low-cost events and activities for older Victorians. 
  • Council hosts a range of local events in Cardinia Shire. 

Free public transport, including all V/Line services, is provided to Victorian Seniors Card holders during the festival from October 6 to 13. Simply carry your Seniors Myki card and Victorian Seniors Card to touch on and off, and you won’t be charged.

Council is joining in on the Victorian Seniors Festival celebrations by supporting a variety of local events during October.

Thursday 3 October - Social Ballroom Dance

Dancing is a great way to stay mentally and physically fit and have a lot of fun. Join our relaxed social ballroom get together in a welcoming, safe place. Beginners to experts welcome!

 

Monday 7 October - City Trip to Festival Hub

Meet at Pakenham train station at 10am to travel by train into the city to visit the Victorian Seniors Festival Hub at Melbourne Town Hall.
Cost: Free travel for Seniors Card holders.
Bookings not required.
 

  • Enjoy music, entertainment, displays, free tea/coffee.
  • Big Band dance 12 to 4pm. Bring your Victorian Seniors Card and Myki Card for free travel.
  • Group meeting spot will be available to travel back to Pakenham together (optional).
  • Some refreshments will be provided. Lunch expenses are the responsibility of participants.

 

Tuesday 8 October - Guided Bushwalks and Health Expo

  • Enjoy all-abilities guided bushwalks by Friends of Kurth Kiln (2km, 4km, 6km) in natural bushland.

Friday 11 October - Wildlife presentation and Devonshire tea

Gumbuya World

Dine with the koalas and get up close and personal with an amazing array of animals that call Gumbuya ‘home’ during this 30-minute wildlife presentation, followed by Devonshire tea. Access for all abilities.
 

Wednesday 16 October - Edith Piaf show

  • Meet at Lakeside car park Emerald Lake Park for a guided stroll around Lake Nobelius and Lake Treganowan with Friends of Emerald Lake Park.
  • Enjoy abundant birdlife, large exotic trees in the arboretums, reeds and rushes along the water’s edge, and stroll through magnificent manna gums.
  • Enjoy the Virtual Ranger Trail audio posts with information about natural and historical features of the park and finish the walk with morning tea.
