Project description
A new regional athletics facility is being built at IYU Recreation reserve in Pakenham.

Stage one of the project will include:
• 400m running track with a 10 lane straight
• Facilities for:
– long/triple jump
– pole vault
– high jump
– javelin
– shot put
– hammer/discus
– steeplechase
• Lighting and car park

Stage 2 of the project will include a sports pavilion with a proposed design currently underway.

IYU Recreation Reserve is Cardinia Shire’s premier soccer facility and one of the best soccer venues in Melbourne’s south-east.

Previous works there included the construction of a full-sized senior soccer field, a pavilion, an all-weather synthetic soccer pitch, a playground and a basketball half-court.
This project is fully funded by Council.
Progress update
Construction commenced in January 2022.

The track is currently being asphalted with anticipated rubber surfacing in December
2022. Dry weather conditions are required to complete track surfacing.

It is anticipated the project will be open to the public in mid-2023.
