IYU Recreation Reserve, Pakenham

Major projects

Henry Road, Pakenham
Project description
The IYU Recreation Reserve in Henry Road, Pakenham will be Cardinia Shire’s premier soccer facility and one of the best soccer venues in Melbourne’s south east. An athletics facility is also planned for the reserve in the coming years.

Stage 1 includes a full-sized senior soccer field and a multi-use pitch that can be used as 2 junior fields or a single senior field, plus a playground, half-court basketball and gravel parking.

Stage 2 includes a new pavilion and an all-weather synthetic soccer pitch.
This project is jointly funded by Council ($1.3 million), and the Victoria Government through Sport and Recreation Victoria ($650,000), and the Growing Suburbs Fund ($3.52 million).
Progress update
Stage 1 and 2 of the project are complete. Works on an entrance road, carpark and access roads (including pavement and drainage works) were completed in September 2018.
Working with the community
IYU Recreation Reserve Master Plan was developed in consultation with local clubs, including Cardinia United Soccer Club and identifies two separate sporting facilities; soccer and athletics.

Constructing the soccer facilities has been identified as the main priority for the reserve.
