| Media release: 22 October 2009 | | Local business operators are invited to learn more about the impacts of the new Fair Work Act at the Cardinia Casey Business Breakfast, to be held in Pakenham on Thursday 12 November.
Alexandra Marriott, Manager of Workplace Relations Policy at the Victorian Employers Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VECCI) will be outlining the new Fair Work Act 2009 at the breakfast.
Business operators will hear about new requirements and obligations on both employers and employees and how these changes will impact on them.
Michael Porter, owner of Sign-A-Rama Pakenham and President of Pakenham Business Group, said employers need to understand and adapt to changes in the new workplace relations laws.
“The whole playing field of industrial relations has now changed and employers definitely need to know how the changes will affect them.
“I would strongly encourage all employers to attend this breakfast,” Mr Porter said.
The Fair Work Act 2009 took effect 1 July 2009 and includes new regulations ranging from bargaining in good faith to unfair dismissal for all businesses.
Held in partnership between Cardinia Shire Council and the City of Casey, the Cardinia Casey Breakfast will be held from 7am–9am at the Cardinia Cultural Centre, Lakeside Boulevard, Pakenham.
Tickets are $35 per person, breakfast included.
Cardinia Shire Mayor Cr Bill Pearson said the breakfast was a great opportunity for local and Casey businesses to network and share tips about how to grow their businesses.
