Cardinia Shire Council keeps a restriction on the number of animals allowed to be housed on properties in the Shire.
The following Local Laws pertain to the number of animals that you can keep on a property under 4000m² and over 4000m², respectively.

| Local Law 10 (57.1) | | Unless in accordance with a permit, an owner or occupier of any residential property having an area less than or equal to 4000m², must not keep or allow to be kept on any such property (not being a flat) more than two dogs or two cats.

| How do I apply for a permit for excess animals? | | If you have animal numbers in excess ofthe Local Laws, you will need to contact Council's Customer Service Centre on 1300 787 624 or download an Excess Animal application form, complete and return to Council.
