The Cardinia Shire Council Waste Management Strategy was originally prepared in 1997 and reviewed in 2002, when the 120-litre garbage and 240-litre recycling bins were introduced.
A further review of the strategy was undertaken in 2005 to take into account new State Government directions and review possible changes in service level expectations.
The revised draft strategy was presented to Council on 20 June 2005 with the suggested introduction of a 240-litre bin based green waste service and closure of the Bayles landfill as some of the major changes.
