Healthy Together Cardinia Shire

Healthy Together is an exciting initiative which aims to improve the health of our community where we live, learn, work, and play.

It will get us all taking responsibility for the health and wellbeing of ourselves and each other by exercising more, eating more fruit and vegetables, less smoking and drinking alcohol less excessively.

We are providing support to you to make these changes by providing a variety of healthy activities that support you where you live, learn, work and play.

Become a health ambassador

As part of Healthy Together Cardinia Shire (HTCS), the Cardinia Shire Health Ambassador initiative can support you to improve your own health and influence the health of others in Cardinia Shire.

Health ambassadors are committed to helping residents improve their lifestyles. You will be trained and supported to gain the confidence, knowledge and skills to promote healthy lifestyles and thus share your knowledge and skills with your family, friends and communities in ways that best suit your networks, interests and experiences.

Health ambassadors benefit by learning new skills, and improving their social connections, professional opportunities, and awareness and knowledge of health and wellbeing. At the same time, you will benefit your own communities, increasing knowledge and awareness of health, promoting healthy behaviours and good preventive measures, and improving access to health services.

To express your interest in becoming a health ambassador, contact Cardinia Shire's Health Promotion Coordinator on 1300 787 624 or email.

Healthy Living Programs and Strategies (HLPS)

Another initiative of Healthy Together Cardinia Shire is HLPS which helps strengthen individual and/or community actions to increase opportunities in Cardinia Shire for health living approaches. This includes increasing the capacity for communities to promote healthy eating and physical activity beyond health professionals.

Funding is available for community groups, non-for-profit organisations and workplaces that are signed up to the Achievement Program to deliver a Healthy Living Program or Strategy. The HLPS must be approved by Healthy Together Cardinia Shire (HTCS) and Department of Health (DoH). They can either be selected from the Department of Health pre-approved list or a pilot program which meets a criterion.

Pre-approved healthy living programs include: community gardens, community gardens, healthy breakfast programs, local food hubs, Heart Foundation walking, Premiers Active Families Challenge, Beat It, Heart Foundation Heart Moves, etc.

For more information download the HLPS fact sheet (Word, 367KB) and Expression of interest form (Word, 356KB) or contact the Healthy Together team on 1300 787 624.

All funds designated to support HLPS this financial year have been expended. Alternative funding may be available through Council's Minor Community Grants program. Conditions apply.
