News>Calling all local young musicians
| Media release: 13 October 2009 | | Aspiring musicians will have the opportunity to get a closer look at the music industry during the Annual Music Industry Night 2009.
The event, hosted by Electric Productions (Cardinia Shire Council FReeZA Committee), will take place on Wednesday 28 October at 6pm.
Cardinia Shire Council Youth Services Officer Carrolyn Agius said the all ages event will allow performers to learn from industry professionals about their experiences in the industry as well as learn about the tricks and the traps of the music industry.
“The workshop will cover a range of topics including but not limited to; promotions, licensing and recording,” Ms Agius said.
Guest speakers will include the Australasian Performing Rights Association (APRA), Dave Griffiths from Buzz Magazine, music consultant Mark Haughton and Nick Barker (former lead singer of Nick Barker and the Reptiles and presenter within the Arts Management Advisory Group).
“The Electric Productions team is keen to get as many young musicians as possible to attend,” Ms Aguis said.
Feedback from previous years has been extremely positive with many young people benefiting from both the formal workshops and informal networking on the night.
Electric Productions have put the event together as part of its commitment to provide free information and training to young performers and entrepreneurs.
The night will also include a short performance by local musician, Tara Dowler.
The workshop will run from 6pm until 9pm at the Cardinia Cultural Centre, Lakeside Boulevard, Pakenham.
